What is NJHS?
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) was established in 1929 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. NJHS recognizes and develops outstanding middle-level students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. Today, over one million students across all 50 states, U.S. territories, and abroad participate in NJHS, engaging both academically and through community service.
The Five Pillars
Character
Honest, courteous, reliable students with strong disciplinary records.
Citizenship
Active, responsible participation in civic and school organizations.
Leadership
Resourceful problem‑solvers who guide and inspire others.
Scholarship
Minimum 3.8 GPA on a 4.0 scale (chapter requirement).
Service
Voluntary contributions to school or community without compensation.

How to Apply
- Be a 7th or 8th grade student in Spring semester.
- Complete ≥ 10 hours of community service in the past year.
- Maintain a 3.7+ unweighted GPA before and during membership.
- Have fewer than two “S” conduct marks on your report card.
- Obtain ≥ 4 letters of recommendation from T.H. Rogers faculty/staff.
Eligible students will be notified via email and school announcements.
